Sunrise Rotarians Honor Lassen County’s Top Young Musicians

Three of Susanville’s most talented young musicians were honored by Susanville’s Sunrise Rotarians March 15th, chosen by judges out of a field of nine finalists in the Rotary Youth Music Contest.

Chalise Robbins won first place, a $100 prize, with a piano piece. Marie Giles, also playing piano, captured second place and $75. Autumn Robbins played piano, winning third place and $50.

The top three contestants were all from Mt. Lassen Charter school and were awarded their prizes by Lassen High Music Instructor Ben Wade.

The other participants were Andrew Hatwig on drums, Manny LaPorte on saxophone, Tony Loe on piano, Juliette Singleton on piano, Caleb Meadows on piano and Tyler Van Meter on piano.

First place winner Chalise Robbins will go on to the Rotary District Music Contest and compete for a $1,000 prize.

Sunrise Rotary Club President Zeane Barber thanked the contestants, judges and those that came out for support, saying that “It was a great night.”
