Members of the Susanville Sunrise Rotary Club gathered Tuesday evening to deliver almost $1,400 of food items to the Susanville Salvation Army.

According to Sunrise Rotarian Gary Felt theĀ Salvation Army had informed the Club that many children who are on food and lunch programs during the school year, often go without when school is out for the summer. Through a number of ‘Pass-the-Hats’ and a donation from the Clubā€™s treasury around $1,200 was collected.

The Susanville Interact Club, a high school club that is sponsored by Rotary, took the money and went shopping for needed items at the Susanville Supermarket IGA. Not only did Susanville Supermarket IGA Manager Todd Eid offer a discount on some items, but when the Interact Club came up a little short, the IGA covered the difference.

If you would like to help, contact the Susanville Sunrise Rotary Club or the Susanville Salvation Army at 257-0314.
