Susan “Suzy” Kathleen Dale – December 11, 2025

Susan “Suzy” Kathleen Dale, 78, was born March 11, 1947, in Fresno, California to Charlotte L. Munn (born Heitz) and Jack E. Munn. She passed away and returned home surrounded by loved ones on December 11, 2025, at Texas Presbyterian Hospital of Denton.

Suzy lived a long and vibrant life of service, love, compassion, care, and humility. She spent many decades in Susanville, California, where she worked diligently as a Forestry Logistics officer for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, a career that suited her talents for organization and tenacity. After retirement, she moved to Corinth, Texas, to be closer to her son and grandchildren.

Suzy excelled at whatever she set her mind to; she was a superb seamstress, an avid reader, and a collector of the beautiful and sentimental (including a great many bison). Above all, Suzy embodied what it means to walk the talk. She lived in her faith while always respecting the views and traditions of others. She gave whenever and wherever she could. Time, effort, service, money, and love was all freely given by Suzy Dale. Neighbors know her as a woman who helped walk their children home from school and always checked in on them and their needs. Her family experienced a privilege like no other in having her as their daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Suzy was married to the love of her life, Jim Dale, on January 3, 1988, and the two spent many years of adventure and travel together. As a wife, Suzy was caring beyond measure, steadfast and full of good humor. As a mother, Suzy was involved in all aspects of the lives of her children from wrestling to baseball to 4H. As a grandmother, Suzy delighted in sharing her love and warmth, and continuing to support her grandkids in their pursuits, be them baseball or theatre. She would volunteer to keep score or work tirelessly in the costuming department, always making sure her family knew how loved and supported they were.

Suzy created a sense of home wherever she went and was a caretaker who was consistently looking out for others. She was the ultimate advocate, anyone who had the good fortune to be loved by her could tell you a story (or five) about when she stood up for them in a moment when they needed it most. She had a smile for everyone and a kindness that radiated from her like sunshine, it seems likely she had never met a stranger she didn’t like.

Suzy is preceded in death by her father figure: Victor Lynn, her mother: Charlotte L. Munn, and her brother: Ronald E. Munn. Suzy is survived by her husband of 37 years: James “Jim” Creath Dale, her children: Darrell V. Lomonaco, Laura A. Lomonaco, Mark G. Lomonaco, Joshua (Mary) J. Dale, and Jeremy J. Dale, her grandchildren: Raviv R. Kruger, Reese S. Lomonaco, Jacob Dale, Thomas (Tiffany) Dale, and Bryan (Kamilë) Dale. She is also survived by her sisters Sandy and Sally, and her many many friends and neighbors. She will be missed beyond measure and carried in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

There will be no formal funeral per Suzy’s wishes. The family will be spreading her ashes in an intimate ceremony at the location of her choosing. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to one of the causes that was near to her heart. Please direct any donation to Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or Operation Kindness Animal Shelter (where Suzy volunteered with her grandchild, Raviv). Honor Suzy whenever you smile at a stranger and extend a helping hand to those who need it.
