Susanville Customers to Receive Corrected Utility Bills Due to Billing Error

The City of Susanville is informing its utility customers about a recent billing error that resulted in inaccurate statements being sent out on July 18th. The issue, stemming from a technical glitch in the city’s billing software system, inadvertently omitted base rate charges for City water and natural gas services.

“The City is working quickly to correct the issue and will be mailing revised utility bills within the next few days,” explained City Manager Dan Newton in a message to customers Wednesday morning.

Customers who have not yet submitted payment are advised to wait until they receive their corrected bill before making a payment.

A message will be included on the bottom of the updated bill, which reads:

“Due to a system error, your recent bill mailed on 7/18/2025 was under-billed. We have reprinted the correct bill which now reflects the full amount owed. If you have already paid the previous bill, any shortfall will automatically roll forward to next month’s bill. Thank you for understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience.”

For any questions or concerns regarding the billing error, customers are encouraged to contact the City Finance Department directly at 1.530.252.5100 or visit City Hall during regular business hours.
