
The Susanville Future Farmers of America chapter traveled to the Shasta College Field Day contest on October 9th. A total of 49 students competed across a variety of Career Development Events, and the results, reported by Susanville FFA Advisor Elizabeth Ammon, confirm the chapter is in top form.
The chapter secured first place team victories in four separate events. The Advanced Livestock team finished 1st high team overall, supported by Kenni Howe’s 3rd high individual placement. The BIG (Best Informed Greenhand) team also took the 1st high team title, with Alyssa Heard placing 3rd high individual.
The Veterinary Science team achieved 1st high team. Leading the way were Abbie Hemphill, who earned the 1st high individual title, and Julia Bruce, who secured 2nd high individual. The Vegetable Crop team also finished 1st high team, sweeping the top three individual honors: Joseph Phan placed 1st, Tyler Swayze 2nd and Arwen Adams 3rd.
The Floral team earned a 2nd high team finish. This competition highlighted the individual talent of Peyton Cantu, who secured the 1st high individual spot.
The Shasta College Field Day was a success for the Susanville FFA chapter, and the students even won for School Spirit!
