Susanville’s Future Farmers of America traveled to UC Davis for the school’s 43rd Annual Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Field Day last weekend. The field day, which welcomed FFA and 4-H students from California and surrounding states, featured 25 different agriculturally-based judging contests, ranging from livestock judging to agriculture computer applications.

According to FFA Advisor Elizabeth Ammon, Susanville’s Novice parliamentary procedure placed first in the top 24 teams across the state.

Students participating in the Parliamentary Procedure Leadership Development Event are evaluated on their ability to conduct an orderly and efficient meeting using parliamentary procedure.

Participants are judged on their knowledge of parliamentary law and their ability to present logical, realistic and convincing debate and motions.

Saturday, with over 3,000 members present, Susanville’s Floral Design team placed first, with Christina West-Lucchesi placing 2nd individual.

The Forestry team placed second, Vegetable Crop placed 3rd high team with Honesty Drake placing 3rd high individual and the Veterinary Science team placed fourth with Jae Norton placing 3rd high individual.

Cory Bill placed 3rd high individual on the Ag mechanics team.
