Susanville’s Future Farmers of America team proved they are among the best in the North State this past weekend, traveling “down the hill” to compete in the prestigious Chico State Field Day on February 21st.
Facing a massive field of more than 1,500 competitors, our local students didn’t just participate – they dominated across multiple disciplines, bringing home a slew of top-tier finishes.
Team and Individual Standouts
The Vegetable Crop and Veterinary Science teams led the charge, securing podium finishes in highly competitive brackets.
Vegetable Crop: The team secured 2nd High Team honors, bolstered by stellar individual performances from Arwen Adams (3rd High Individual) and Tyler Swayze (4th High Individual).
Veterinary Science: A fantastic showing resulted in 3rd High Team, with Abbie Hemphill claiming the 2nd High Individual spot.
Ag Mechanics: The crew took home 5th High Team, with Curtis Mallery delivering a sharp performance to earn 3rd High Individual.
Livestock: The Susanville team stood strong, placing as the 3rd High Team.
Best Informed Greenhand (BIG): The newest members of the chapter showed their knowledge, placing as the 6th High Team.
Floral Design: The team rounded out the competitive rankings with a solid 7th High Team finish.
Regional Leadership and Interviews
Beyond the skills competitions, Susanville was well-represented in the leadership arena. Aurea Webb and Julia Bruce spent their weekend dedicated to the future of the organization, interviewing the new Superior Region officer candidates.
Additionally, five Susanville individuals stepped up to the plate to interview for regional office positions. Congratulations to the following students for their hard work and leadership:
