policeupdate3An attempted traffic stop by Susanville Police Officers Tuesday evening quickly resulted in a high-speed chase, then a foot pursuit, ending with the arrest of a 26 year-old Susanville man on multiple charges.

At around 5:30p.m., an officer attempted to pull over an unlicensed driver on Fair Drive in Susanville.

According to Police Lieutenant Matt Wood the driver failed to yield his vehicle and a pursuit ensued through the streets of Susanville – a pursuit that lasted approximately 4 minutes and traversed roughly 1.3 miles, with the suspect’s vehicle reaching speeds in excess of 50 miles per hour.

Deputies from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office assisted the police department during the pursuit.

The driver, identified by police as 26 year-old Susanville resident Justin Lord, eventually stopped his vehicle in the 800 block of Hall Street and attempted to flee the scene. He was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Subsequent investigation by officers located two shotguns in the suspect’s vehicle as well as ammunition for the shotguns.

Lord was booked into the Lassen County Jail on multiple charges including; evading a peace officer, being a felon in possession of ammunition, being a felon in possession of a firearm, driving without a license and resisting a peace officer.

He was held on $30,000 bail and the case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
