The Sacramento Bee is reporting that 57 year-old Susanville resident Dwight Bennett, owner of Whispering Pines Ranch just west of town, has been arrested and charged with 30 counts of animal cruelty.
According to the article here Bee writer Cynthia Hubert reports that Lassen County Sheriff’s deputies, with assistance from Search and Rescue, searched the property on Highway 36 and found the decomposing remains of 28 horses and three dogs.
Bennett was taken into custody and officers seized a small amount of methamphetamine, marijuana and five firearms.
