A Susanville man was arrested, and a juvenile cited, on a variety of charges relating to an incident Tuesday night where vehicles traveling along the highway near town were damaged by thrown rocks.
According to details released by the California Highway Patrol, at around 8:40p.m., on May 1st, Lassen County Dispatch and CHP Dispatch received multiple calls that someone was throwing rocks at vehicles on Highway 36 in the vicinity of Pigeon’s Cliff, just west of Susanville.
CHP officers met with one of the victims who had sustained damage to the roof of their vehicle. The officers observed a multitude of rocks in the roadway, ranging from the size of an egg to the size of a softball.
CHP, Lassen County Sheriff’s Deputies and Susanville Police Officers attempted to locate the person who had thrown the rocks.
Shortly after 9:00 a Lassen County Sheriff’s deputy located two men walking southbound on North Pine street at the intersection of North Street.
CHP officers arrived on scene and interviewed the two men; a 20-year old Susanville man identified as Jakobey Robberson, and a 12-year old boy who was not identified because of his age.
According to the report both males eventually admitted to throwing rocks at vehicles.
Robberson also admitted that he had furnished marijuana to the 12-year old boy. He was booked into the Lassen County Jail for throwing an object at a moving vehicle with intent to injure, a felony, and furnishing marijuana to a person under the age of 14, which is a misdemeanor.
He was also charged with giving false information to a CHP Officer which is a misdemeanor.
The juvenile was issued a citation and released to his mother.
