Officers from the Susanville Police Department arrested 33 year-old Susanville resident William Trujillo on Saturday, after the man allegedly used a pistol-grip shotgun to threaten a woman during a fight.
At around 11:00a.m. Saturday officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Gail Way regarding a civil problem involving child custody. The officers were requested by a woman who said that she was afraid to pick up her child after earlier being assaulted by the child’s father.
The victim reported that Trujillo had pointed a pistol-grip shotgun at her during an altercation and had threatened to shoot her.
Six hours later, after observing Trujillo driving on Paiute Lane, officers conducted a high risk traffic stop in the 600 block of Shawn Way.
Trujillo was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of assault with a firearm and criminal threats.
An inventory search of Trujillo’s pickup turned up a loaded pistol-grip 12 gauge shotgun. Extra shotgun shells were located in the bed of the pickup.
The shotgun and extra shotgun shells were seized as evidence.
Trujillo was held on $35,000 bail and the case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
