A Susanville man was arrested and booked into the Lassen County Jail last week for possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit a felony. The suspect, identified by the Susanville Police Department as 28-year old Adam Mendes, was held on $30,000 bail.
According to Police Lieutenant Matt Wood at around 6:15 Monday evening officers from the Police Department responded to a burglary call at a residence in the 600 block of Ash Street. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim who reported several items missing from her residence.
“While on scene,” explains Lieutenant Wood, “one of the officers noticed a silver Saturn station wagon parked at 780 Hall Street that he recalled having earlier seen parked in the area of the victim’s residence with a subject near the car acting suspicious.”
Upon further investigation into this suspicious vehicle, the officers located multiple items inside the station wagon which belonged to the residential burglary victim.
As a result of the investigation, Mendes was arrested and booked. Additional charges of first degree burglary, being a felon in possession of ammunition and illegal possession of a firearm were forwarded to the District Attorney.
Lieutenant Wood said the case has been referred to the Lassen County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
