Two days later, on October 17th, in the early morning hours, officers responded to a reported vehicle theft at a residence in the 1000 block of Ashley Way. The victim in this case reported that a vehicle had been stolen from his garage and there were items missing from another vehicle that was parked at the residence.

The victim on Ashely Way also reported that his house had been ransacked, however no items were missing. The stolen vehicle was recovered at approximately 4:25 am in the 700 block of Cameron Way.

At 5:30a.m. on October 18th, Police Officers responded to the 1000 block of Cameron Way for an unknown type of 911 call. Upon arrival, officers found that a male subject had been rummaging through some items inside a garage when he was caught by the homeowner. The suspect, identified by officers as 23 year-old Susanville resident Joshua Grenfell, was subsequently arrested for burglary.

On October 19th, a search warrant was executed at Grenfell’s residence by members of the Susanville Police Department. A search of the residence revealed multiple pieces of stolen property that tied the suspect to the above burglary and theft cases. Joshua Grenfell, who was out on bail for his initial arrest, was located and arrested again by members of the Susanville Police Department, booked into the Lassen County Jail and held on a $100,000 bail.

According to Lieutenant Wood the Susanville Police Department was assisted by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Forest Service during the execution of the search warrant.
