The Susanville Police Department is inviting you to bring your pet to their annual low-cost Rabies and license clinic today, May 19th, in Memorial Park.
The event is sponsored by the Susanville Police, Lassen Humane Society, Lassen County, the City of Susanville, Treats Natural Pet Marketplace and Tractor Supply Company. Demonstrations will be put on by the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office featuring Deputy Russell and Deputy Meiers with K-9 units Brinks and Hank.
Promotional booth swill be set up by The Pet Station, Mesahaus Dog Training Facility, Sit Spot and Treats at Milwood Florist. The Humane Society will be making dog tags and R&R Huskies will offer sled dog rides.
Local veterinarians Dr. Nelson and Dr. Taylor will be on hand to help you keep your dogs and cats healthy and vaccinated.
City licenses are $3.50 for altered pets, $8 for unaltered and for County licenses the cost is $5 for altered pets and $15 for unaltered.
Rabies vaccinations for both city and county dogs will be $9.
Why does your dog need to be licensed? Animal licensing assists the police department and county animal control personnel in identifying the owner of a stray or runaway animal. A dog that is licensed and wearing their identification tags can be returned to the owner quicker and avoid being taken to the animal shelter.
Make sure when you visit the event that your dog is on a leash and cats must be in pet carriers. If you are just coming for the license you must bring a current rabies vaccination certificate.
The Clinic will be held at Memorial Park from 10a.m. to 2:00p.m. Saturday, May 19th.
