The Susanville School District has announced new leadership at two of its Susanville schools, following what officials described as a rigorous selection process. Superintendent Jason Waddell has confirmed the appointment of Daniel Hartrum and Meghan Orange as the new site leaders for Diamond View Middle School and Meadow View School, respectively.
Candidates were vetted by an 11-person panel representing a diverse cross-section of district employees from both schools, ensuring that the new administrators align with the needs of various staff classifications.
A Homecoming at Diamond View
Taking the helm at Diamond View Middle School is a face familiar to many in the community. Daniel Hartrum has been selected to lead the school as current principal Dede Heimbigner prepares to transition to her new role overseeing McKinley School this summer.
Superintendent Waddell noted that Hartrum’s connection to the district is lifelong. As the child of teachers who dedicated their entire careers to the Susanville School District, Hartrum is a product of the very system he will now lead.
“Daniel was an exemplary student at Diamond View,” Waddell stated. “He is a shining example of how far our students can climb as they build their educational foundation with us. He will now lead a team of remarkable educators as we continue to strive for excellence.”
New Leadership at Meadow View
Joining the Susanville School District family is Meghan Orange, who has been named the new site administrator at Meadow View School.
Orange comes to the district from neighboring Plumas County, where she has spent the last four years serving in both Assistant Principal and Principal roles. Her professional background is extensive, spanning several facets of education.
“During her tenure as an educator, Meghan has spent time as a classroom teacher, a counselor, a teacher on special assignment, and an administrator,” Waddell shared. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and passion for student learning that will certainly be a comfortable fit for our community, our staff, and our students.”
