The Susanville Symphony Society will be kicking off their performance season with a special concert on the lawn this Saturday, September 16th, at the historic courthouse on Lassen Street. According to Symphony Conductor and Artistic Director Ben Wade the Concert on the Green sets two benchmarks for Lassen county in one fell swoop: it will cap off weekend-long festivities celebrating the courthouse and at the same time kick off the Susanville symphony orchestra’s 15th season.
“I can’t believe we made it this far,” Wade says with a smile. “It’s been a magical journey, one that we could have never expected, and one that has been worth all of our time.”
The concert will be filled with music that the audience will be well familiar with – movie classics like Legends of the Fall and Last of the Mohicans were picked because, “the epitomize the vast outdoor scenery of our country.”
“Classical icons of the literature like the 1812 overture will be sure to raise the audience and songs from U2 and Journey will delight both young and old.”
“This year we would like to specifically recognize our veterans,” Wade explains. “They have made this country what it is today, and I’d like as any as possible there to stand up and be recognized.”
There will be several audience participation moments during the concert which begins at 5:00p.m.
