Susanville Symphony Pops Extravaganza this Weekend

A SusanvilleStuff Feature
by Jeremy Couso

The Susanville Symphony’s spectacular 10th anniversary season comes to a close this weekend with the Susanville Pops Concert, a favorite for both symphony fans and the performing musicians.

“It is hard to believe that we are already coming to a close of our tenth anniversary season,” says long-time executive board member and symphony musician Dana Hirsche, “A decade of music on a major scale!”

Hirsche promises that there is ‘something for everyone’ at the Pops Concert – Broadway show tunes, movie themes and classical works abound.

“If you like Rock and Roll…well we even have a little of that for you as well.”

The symphony’s annual Pops extravaganzas show off the versatility of the musicians, as the audience gets the luxury of sampling a little of everything.

The 2013-2014 concert season was announced in May and includes the Susanville Swing Band concert, the Christmas concert, America a Portrait of Music, the 9th Symphony-Beethoven’s Curse and the Susanville Pops Concert.

Please note that the Pops performance originally scheduled for Friday night has been moved to Saturday to avoid conflicts with high school graduation. This weekend’s concerts are Saturday, June 8th at 7:00pm and Sunday, June 9th at 2:30pm in the Assembly of God Church on Richmond Road.

Tickets are going fast, but are still available at Leslie’s Jewelry in Susanville. Call 257-2920 for ticket information.
