A Susanville woman, whose name is not being released by police at this time, was killed early Monday morning after she was struck by a vehicle while she crossed Main Street near the intersection of Mesa Street.
According to details released by Susanville Police Chief Kevin Jones, officers responded to the traffic collision at around 6:30a.m., arriving on-scene to find a female in the roadway who had sustained major injuries.
“Officers provided immediate medical care until medical personnel arrived,” explained Chief Jones.
Investigation revealed that an unidentified 31-year old Susanville resident was driving a 2016 Chevy Suburban, travelling westbound on Main Street approaching Mesa Street, while the pedestrian was crossing Main outside of a crosswalk. She was struck by the front end of the Suburban.
The woman was transported to a local hospital where she died of her injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
