Lassen Family Services Parenting Group Classes. Reduce the chaos and power struggles; learn an approach to parenting that is both simple and effective. “Positive Parenting with a Plan,” by Matthew A. Johnson, Psy. D., MSW, helps parents establish order and structure in the home, including rewards and positive consequences that work! Designed as a 12-week program, group and individualized instruction is provided on an on-going basis. Group classes are held Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00–11:00 a.m.

The sessions will be from January 22 – February 28, March 12 – April 11, April 23 – May 23 and June 4 – June 27. These classes are located in the Lassen Library at 1618 Main St., Susanville. Lassen Community College will be holding a scholarship benefit concert and dance at the college’s sports complex, featuring Louis Price, past lead singer of both The Temptations and The Drifters, a crowd favorite who has won over audiences at the February show for the last six years. All proceeds benefit the Lassen College Scholarship Foundation. The concert and dance will run from 6:00 to 9:30 on February 28th, doors open at 5:30. General Entry Tickets are $30 per person, Special Entry Tickets are $5, and are available at the Lassen Community College bookstore, Margie’s Book Nook and the Lassen County Chamber of Commerce. Lassen Youth Football League Sign Ups. The league has made it easy to sign up in person or online. Early bird sign-up will be held at the Susanville Pizza Factory from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on March 1st. Early bird sign-up fees are $175 per child for football and $70 per child for cheer. After that date cost of sign-ups are $200 for youth football and $75 for cheer. Additional sign-ups will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Susanville Pizza Factory on April 5th, May 3rd and June 7th. There is also a cheer uniform fee which has yet to be determined and a $50 football equipment fee due at the time of registration for all applicants.

Lassen County Cattlemen & CattleWomen present the 31st Annual A Taste of Beef and A Sip of Wine will be from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., at the Susanville Elk’s Lodge. Proceeds Benefit Scholarships, Beef Promotion, Youth Activities and Ag in the Classroom. The cost is $35 / Person for presale tickets and $40 / Person at the door. Tickets are available at The Lassen County Chamber of Commerce.
