Lassen County Arts Council presents, Contemporary Tuesdays: Instruction for older developing artists. Concepts covered include color therapy, perspective, shape, form and design concepts. Instructor will include drawing with dry pastel, and painting will include use of oil pains and guache. Drop in sessions are $15 each Tuesday from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at 807 Cottage Street. Lassen Family Services Parenting Group Classes. Reduce the chaos and power struggles; learn an approach to parenting that is both simple and effective. “Positive Parenting with a Plan,” by Matthew A. Johnson, Psy. D., MSW, helps parents establish order and structure in the home, including rewards and positive consequences that work! Designed as a 12-week program, group and individualized instruction is provided on an on-going basis. Group classes are held Tuesdays from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00–11:00 a.m.

A Community Advisory Committee for the Special Education Local Plan, or SELPA, is being formed to work together, share information, provide opportunities and build knowledge about special education issues in our community. The meetings are open to parents, family members, educators, agency representatives and community members interested in supporting children with special needs. Susanville Sunrise Rotary Club presents the 2nd Annual Comedy Night featuring the GR8 Cris. Doors open at 6:00p.m., at the Monticola Club House, 140 S. Rodeo Events will include Team Roping, Calf Roping, Bareback Riding, Goal Tying, Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Bull Riding, Barrell Racing and Breakaway Roping. Admission is $5 at the gate. Hunter Education and Firearm Safety Class. Hunt with your Kids not for them. Last Hunter Education class for the year. September 28th and October 5th. Must attend both days of instruction. To register go wildlife.ca.gov/hunter-education, select option 1 and follow instructions to obtain GO ID number if you have a fishing license use the number off of it. Continue instructions to finish registration. Thanks to the Susanville area Pheasants Forever chapter for donating a 100 knives to be given out to all successful students sixteen and under after passing the exam and receiving their safety certificate.

We will be showing “A Bugs Life” there will be a cardboard box car contest and a concession stand.
