The Cow-A-Bunga Contest usually kicks off the annual planning for the event as the Cattlewoman come together to taste entries, sip wine and organize tasks. This year marks the 25th anniversary for the Cattlewoman’s “Taste of Beef, Sip of Wine,” and they are already planning some different ways to celebrate 25 years.
“With this year marking our 25 years, we really want the even to be special,” said Leona Parker, Wine Tasting Chair. “I think people are going to really enjoy the new hors d’oeuvres and the variety of ways we will be giving, while promoting beef.”
This year’s winning hor derve was made by Melissa Blosser, and consists of caramelized onions, sirloin steak and blue cheese. Second place went to Teri Bertotti who made ‘grass-fed goodness beef skewers.’ Third place went to the Wine Tasting Chairman, Leona Parker who made a ‘beef and taters.’
The event will take place February 1st from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the Susanville Elks Lodge and includes hand selected premium wines, mouthwatering beef hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction.
“The tickets make great stocking stuffers,” said Parker.
Tickets to the event can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce or by contacting your local Cattlewoman, for more information call 257-4323.
