Teens Offered Big Prizes for Help With Distracted Driver Campaign

As a teen, how do you talk to your friends, parents, and even your siblings about the very real dangers of reckless and distracted driving?

That is the question the folks behind the Impact Teen Drivers program began asking back in 2007 while educating young drivers in schools about poor decision making behind the wheel. The Create Real Impact contest was developed to ask young people, ages 14-22, to show how they would talk about the very real problem of distracted teen driving.

Young people are invited to enter to win cash and prizes by showcasing art, music, video and creative writing to address reckless and distracted driving and to help solve the problem. It’s that simple. This unique opportunity allows for a safe and expressive platform to speak out and create real impact.

Prizes are in the form of educational grants of $500 and $1500 — money that can be spent on tuition or school supplies like laptops.

  • Video: Two minutes or less Public Service Announcement uploaded to YouTube.
  • Music: Two minutes or less original piece of music, any style, uploaded to YouTube.
  • Creative writing: 1200 words or less uploaded directly to CreateRealImpact.com.
  • Visual Art: Original work in any medium uploaded directly or as a picture to CreateRealImpact.com.

Three easy steps to enter: Make it, Upload it, Submit it.

If you’re eligible to enter, what would you say and how would you say it?

All qualified entries are judged in two ways. Once by your friends and family between April 21st – 28th. The top three vote getters in each category win prizes.

On April 29th and 30th a second round of competition will be scored by judges. Those judges will determine the grand prize winners based on the following criteria: 25% concept/creativity, 25% execution of the idea, and 50% effectiveness of the message.

Winners will be announced May 1st, 2014 and you can click here to see rules and regulations.
