Tennis and Handball Court Get a Facelift Thanks to Local Boy Scout

Memmott and his crew worked Saturday morning to clean and repair the playing surface at the tennis courts as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Brigham Memmott, Boy Scout from Troop 125, is working his way to Eagle Scout with a project to repair the Susanville tennis courts and handball board next to Memorial Park on Weatherlow Street. Memmott raised over $700 from local contributions to pay for the renovation.

The Eagle Scout Project is the opportunity for a Boy Scout, Varsity Scout or qualified Venturer in the Boy Scouts of America to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of his community.

This is the culmination of the Eagle Scout candidate’s leadership training, and it requires a significant effort on Memmott’s part.

Memmott visited Sunrise Rotary in July to tell them about his project.

The repair team fixed nets and cleaned up weeds growing on the courts.

Scout Leader Eugene Chittock helps Memmott remove masking tape from the freshly painted line on the handball court wall.
