Homecoming week at Lassen High School will be celebrated the week of September 22-27. Our ASB class has been working since summer to come up with a theme, dress up days, and other activities.
Here are some of the details: The Game of Lassen will be played during this week as students compete in spirit days, lunchtime contests, and the annual Powder Puff game, culminating with the Homecoming float and skit battle.
Mondayās theme is āGuess Whoā, the childhood matching card game. Students are encouraged to dress alike and take a picture for proof.
The theme for Tuesday 9/24 is āWhite Liesā, where students are encouraged to wear a plain white t-shirt with a white lie written on it. White lies are those little things you say when youāre not telling the whole truth, like āNo, that dress doesnāt look bad on youā or āWe love mandatory training on blood borne pathogensā.
On Wednesdays, students will embrace The Game of Life and come as their future selves. Careers like law enforcement, nurses, teachers, and doctors are bound to be popular. Pilots, bakers, engineers, plumbers, chefs, and construction workers are also good choices. You might also envision your future as a BBQ dad or Soccer Mom.
Juniors and Sophomores will battle Seniors and Freshmen at the Powder Puff game on Wednesday evening at 7:00. We are working on getting food trucks there so you can purchase dinner or snacks.
Thursday is a class color day centered around the popular card game UNO. Freshmen wear green, Sophomores are yellow, Juniors have red, and Seniors are blue. Students should wear as much as the color as possible.
Since Friday is a county-wide In-Service day for educators, the assembly and parade will take place that afternoon on the track. Our royalty will be introduced, as well as the prestigious Alumni of the Year, and classes will present their floats.
Weāll do that all again on Friday when the Grizzlies take on the Foothill Cougars with game times at 3:30, 5:30, and 7:30. The student section theme is inspired by Monopoly and students should plan on collecting the āGo Directly to Jailā card and dress in orange or stripes.
Saturday night is the Homecoming dance hosted by the Sophomore Class. It will be held at the Vets Hall.
The ASB students want to add events that would encourage alumni to attend the festivities on Friday night. If you have any ideas, please drop me an email.
Remember when news was ānewsyā? When you read about weddings, family events and engagement announcements in the newspaper? If you have something that might be newsworthy, please submit it to [email protected] and Iāll do my best to include it here in āThe Good Stuff.ā
