As you walk into Om-Ah Holistics, it feels like you have taken a big breath of fresh air. The tension leaves your shoulders as you take in the soft, color-washed walls, comfy furniture, and cozy fabrics of the room.
Owner Teresa Mossigner, with daughter Erika Mankins, has created an oasis right in the middle of Main Street. An oasis where you can meditate with Teresa on Sundays and Tuesdays at 6:00.
Each session has a special focus or theme, which you can find on their Facebook page. Teresa also offers Reiki energy healing, NLP Life Coaching and hypnosis, and one on one sound bath and healing sessions.
I admit that I thought meditation was a little “woo-woo” but I joined a friend one day and immediately felt like this was a place I needed to be. When I’m able to meditate, I feel centered and have energy to accomplish my tasks.
I became more of a believer when Teresa led me through an NLP and hypnosis session. After a car accident where my vehicle was hit by a drunk driver, I had anxiety when driving down Main Street.
I would see a car at an intersection and slow down to the point of almost stopping in traffic. I could also “feel” the impact of the accident at random times. After 90 minutes of meditation, visualization, and training, I was truly healed and able to drive unimpeded.
Erika is studying to become a health coach and will also facilitate a book club starting on Monday (9/23) at 6:30. The four-session series will complete an in-depth analysis of The Way of Zen by Alan Watts and costs $35.
In addition, they will be scheduling meditation with Linda Robinette, tai chi, and gentle and chair yoga with Linda Jackson and Ellie Orbeton.
A showcase for handmade and local talent, you will find their shelves stocked with tea, soaps, candles, hot and cold therapy pillows, artisan earrings, as well as leather goods and wood working. There is apparel, Mala beads, and gift certificates for any occasion.
This coming Saturday (9/21), Teresa and Erika would love for you to join their Grand Opening celebration. Starting at 11:00 with a short beginning introduction to meditation, it will be followed with food, end-of-summer sale, and an afternoon of raffles.
Erika noted that everyone who walks in the door will receive ten tickets and the prizes include tickets to Dancing for a Brand New Me and the Susanville Symphony.
On Sunday, September 22nd, plan to observe the Fall Equinox with a special Guided Meditation and Sound Bath Event. Starting at 6:00, you will enjoy a “full sensory experience of soothing sound, autumn aromas, and flavors of fall.” Pre-sale tickets are now available for $25.
Teresa said that she and Erika set out to create somewhere for people to feel relaxed and comfortable and they have certainly succeeded. They are both knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming and their Wellness Center has something for everyone.
Stop by 2206 Main Street to see it for yourself! You can also find all their information, prices, and schedules on their website: om-ah.com.
Remember when news was ‘newsy’? When you read about weddings, family events and engagement announcements in the newspaper? If you have something that might be newsworthy, please submit it to [email protected] and I’ll do my best to include it here in “The Good Stuff.”
