The Lassen High School Grizzliettes traveled to Rocklin, California to attend Dance Camp hosted by the United Spirit Association.
For four days, the dancers learned new choreography, perfected their technique, challenged themselves with new dance styles, and bonded as a team.
They were joined by dance teams from Bella Vista and Granite Bay high schools.
The Grizzliettes learned routines in genres such as hip hop, military, kick, and pom. They also participated in drill downs, which resemble what a military unit does during marching and block formations. Drill downs provide a structure and focus for teams and emphasize the sharp, cutting movements seen in classic Military-style routines that the drill team is known for.
The Drill Team earned recognition for team and individual accomplishments:
LHS Drill Team – Excellent performance in the Pom Choreography to Go routine, Most Improved award
Pin it Forward recipients (recognized for work ethic, positive attitude, helpfulness) – Kaylee Micone, Hailey Sandoval, and Parker Foreman
Drill Down Ribbons — 1st – Hailey Sandoval, Grace Steward, Parker Foreman, 2nd – Kaylee Micone
Drill Down Medalists: Hailey Sandoval 2nd, Parker Foreman 3rd
Super Sensational Finalists and All-American — Kaylee Micone and Parker Foreman
Super Sensational winner for all of camp — Kaylee Micone

Parker also earned the 3rd Place Drill Down Medal.

Hailey also earned the 2nd Place Drill Down medal.
Captains Kaylee Micone and Hailey Sandoval were very proud of their team for working hard at camp and trying new things, especially the new members who jumped right in and showed improvement every day.
This year the team also received instruction and a certificate in NFHS Credentialing, which emphasizes the dance team’s role in their school and community. Of course, the Drill Team also had time to goof off, make memories, and enjoy the beautiful sunsets at William Jessup University.
You can catch a Grizzliette Performance under the Friday Night Lights at Arnold Field on Friday August 29th when the Football teams hosts the Shasta Wolves.
