The new year is off to a busy beginning, and I keep checking my calendar to make sure I’m not missing something.
This week is Winterfest at Lassen High. Tuesday kicks off the Masquerade-themed week with “Midnight Mystery” and students are encouraged to dress all in black.
Catch the soccer teams taking on Central Valley this afternoon. Boys at 3:15 and Girls at 5:15.
Wear hats, scarves, wigs, and sunglasses on Wednesday for “Royal Disguise”. Boys basketball will play Yreka that evening: Frosh 3:30, JV 5:30, and Varsity 7:30.
Thursday is “Masquerade PJ Day” so wear your comfiest attire. Frosh boys basketball play CV at 4:30.
Friday wraps it up with “Royal Court Color Day”. Seniors should wear silver/gray, juniors in gold/yellow, sophomores have black, and freshmen don a deep, royal blue.
ASB will host an assembly full of games, performances and the announcement of the Winterfest court.
Come out and support your Grizzlies as they battle Central Valley. Game times for Friday 1/23 are as follows: JV Girls 3:00, JV Boys 4:30, Varsity Girls 6:00, Varsity Boys 7:30 in the Bob Levada Gymnasium.
On Saturday, the Boys Basketball Boosters are hosting a “Day of Hoops” tournament for our local middle school teams.
The real action starts at 6:00 with the annual Alumni game. Cheer on your favorite grads as the Gold and Purple teams play for bragging rights. Admission is $5 and the snack bar will be open.
Speaking of alumni, Niki Jarrell, president of the association, is asking for nominations for the Honorary Member and Alumni of the Year.
Please submit a 1-page written letter with the nominee’s name and qualifications and mail to PO Box 471, Susanville, CA 96130 by 2/12 (Honorary Member) and 3/12 (Alumni of the Year). The selections will be made at those meetings, which are held at the LUHSD Board Room at 5:00 and are open to the public.
