The Most Action-Packed Fun-Filled Weekend of the Summer!

Friday Night

High Desert Brawl 9, another in the series of popular mixed martial arts fights at the Diamond Mountain Casino, will feature some hard hitting action tonight. Gates open at 5:00 and the main event begins at 7:00. For more information call 252-1100.

The event features some of the toughest fighters the area has to offer and benefits local non-profit organizations like the Michael Cochran, Zara JeredaĀ and Doyle UrrutiaĀ Memorial Scholarships, SIR Youth and Elders, NOPE, Friday Night Live, HeadStart, Senior Services and the Iron Pit Fight Team.

The Historic Uptown Susanville Association is once again hosting their annual Fall Crafters Festival from 9:00a.m. 4:00p.m.

Last yearā€™s fair was attended by more than 2,000 people who visited uptown Susanville for crafts, antiques, music and fun. For more information call 257-4323.

The Lassen Historical Society will be at the uptown craft fair with a big selection of books on local history. Pick up some amazing biographies, memoirs and local historical stories from the museumā€™s selection.

The Lassen Historical Society will be set up in front of Margieā€™s Book Nook and Lassen Ale Works at the Pioneer.

There are two big events Saturday at the Lassen County Fairgrounds. First the Susanville Street Rodders ā€˜High Country Cruiseā€™ begins at 10:00a.m. with a showcase of pre-1975 cars and trucks on the grass at the fairgrounds.

Itā€™s the biggest car show in Susanville and folks travel here from all over the west coast to show-off their vintage vehicles! The show runs until 4:00p.m. For more information, call Rich at 257-3857.

Then at 7:00p.m. at the fairgrounds the Diamond Mountain Speedway comes alive with dirt track racing fun! Take the whole family out to the races. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for students (13 – 17) and seniors (64 and up). For more information, call 251-8900.

The Crowā€™s Nest StudioĀ will be holding a Free Art Day on Saturday from 11:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. The art studio is located at 1015 Main Street. For more information please call 257-ARTS.

At noon, over at Riverside Park on Riverside Drive there will be a ā€˜Community Candidates Picnicā€™Ā with candidates Doug LaMalfa, Brian Dahle, Bob Burns and Tony Mallery there to meet and talk to folks. For more information you can call Jean at 252-1037.

Come and taste some of the best tomatoes in the county and purchase a purse to help support the humane society.

The culinary spotlight shines on tomatoes tomorrow, with more than 30 varieties of Heirloom organic tomatoes available for sampling at the Tomato Festival and Purses for Pets fundraiser.

Festival attendees will be treated to a free tomato tasting, gourmet cooking classes, wine tasting and live music. Along with the cooking classes you can also learn wine and tomato pairing and how to can your own tomatoes.

Help support our local humane societyā€™s spay and neuter program and bid on chic ladies handbags at the ā€˜Purses for Petsā€™ silent auction.

The Tomato Festival starts at 2:00 Saturday afternoon and runs until 6:00 at Every Bloominā€™ Thing nursery, 705-670 Hwy 395 E. For more information call 251-2330.

The Soaring Eagle Blue Star Moms will present a fantastic concert with the ā€˜Travis Brass Quintet Concertā€™ at 6:00p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Hall on Main Street. Admission is free!

Travis Brass is the multitalented brass group of the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West. From a standard march or traditional brass composition to jazz, ragtime and the popular music of today, this groupā€™s diverse repertoire covers a myriad of styles to exhilarate audiences.

These talented artists are active duty professional musicians working in support of Air Mobility Command and the surrounding communities. Travis Brassā€™ blend of sound, style and humor make them an entertaining ensemble, putting an evolutionary spin on music for tomorrow. For more information call 257-5085.
