Thompson Peak Writers’ Workshop Announces Community “Poetry Egg Hunt” Saturday

Visitors to historic uptown Susanville will have a poetic reason to keep their eyes peeled this weekend as the Thompson Peak Writers’ Workshop kicks off a unique celebration for National Poetry Month. Tomorrow, April 4th, everyone is invited to participate in a “Poetry Egg Hunt” with colorful surprises tucked away along upper Main Street and Pancera Plaza.

Event representative Dianna Henning notes that this isn’t your average hunt; while every single egg contains a poem to brighten your day, some hold the key to much larger rewards. Participants are encouraged to scout the area, open their finds, and see if they have landed a winning egg.

If you happen to find a winning slip inside, you can take it directly to Margie’s Book Nook to redeem your prize. The community has rallied behind the event with an impressive array of rewards, including gift certificates for signed books by local authors, coffee shop vouchers, movie passes, and gift certificates for the bookstore itself or the Blue Ox Bistro.

Organizers ask that all participants recycle the plastic eggshells after retrieving their poems and prizes.

This hunt is the perfect way to spark a little creative joy this April. If the event inspires you to pick up a pen of your own, the Thompson Peak Writers’ Workshop is always looking for new voices. Anyone interested in writing poetry or prose is encouraged to get involved by calling 1.530.253.3303.
