Lassen Land and Trails Trust will be teaming up with the Bizz Running Company on Saturday, May 10th, to host the 30th annual Paiute Meadows Trail Run at Susanville Ranch Park, the region’s premiere trail system, featuring a 50K, a 50K two-person relay, a 30K, a 1/2 Marathon and a 4.5 Miler and a one-mile kid’s run.
According to organizers, the 4.5-mile course is the traditional cornerstone of all three distances as it twists and turns through towering pines, beautiful meadows and challenging climbs. The 50K, 50K Relay, 30K, and half-marathon courses rival any true trail race in the region, with challenging climbs, water crossings and a variety of terrain.
Featuring mostly single-track trails, runners experience breathtaking views as they run through a variety of beautiful landscapes at Susanville Ranch Park on the outskirts of town.
The free one-mile Kids’ Trail Race is for kids twelve and under.
With almost five thousand feet of elevation climb in Susanville Ranch Park, the 50K race (31 miles) is a challenging, yet rewarding, course. Traversing lush meadows, pine-covered forests, spring-fed creeks, lava flows, and wildflower-covered hillsides, the course rises to reveal a spectacular vista of the entire Honey Lake Valley.
The 13.7-mile trail half-marathon follows some of the 50k course, including the final downhill thrill of locally named Heart Attack Hill. It is the perfect course for those who are not ready to tackle the 50k distance.
Everyone is encouraged to come out to the run and cheer on their favorite participants.
Race packet pickup will be hosted at the Susanville Historic Train Depot, 601 Richmond Road, on May 9th, from 10:00a.m. until 6:00p.m. Late registration will be offered at packet pickup.
For those runners who are driving in on race morning, race packet pickup at Susanville Ranch Park will start at 6:00a.m. There will be absolutely no race day registration.
Complete race details and registration information are available at bizzrunningcompany.com. Any questions may be directed to Race Director Linda Powell at [email protected]. Registration closes May 10th.
