Today is a day of celebration of our wonderful old timers who, throughout the years, have done so much for the community.
To kick of this exciting day at 8 am 4-H and FFA beef and open rabbit shows will begin.
An hour after opening, the fair will launch into one of its longest standing traditions, the annual Apple Pie Contest. The contest will be held in Jensen hall, where after much tasting, the judges will pick a 1st place winner who will receive $50.00, Second place $25.00, and 3rd place $15.00.
The Old Timer’s Lunch and celebration where the 2012 Old Timer of the Year will be announced will be held at noon at Bekin’s Stage. A special performance will be given by Kenny Joe Zimmerman, a local musician best known for playing the autoharp.
Also at noon, Lassen Employee of the year luncheon will be held in the north grandstand lawn.
You can top off the evening on the grounds with Buddy Emmer’s Blues Band on the Lassen Transfer Storage Stage. At 8;00 pm catch the major event of the year with Country Superstar Jo Dee Messia in Coors Light Country Night. For tickets to this event visit www.lassencountyfair.org.
