The spotlight shines on tomatoes this Saturday with more than 30 varieties of Heirloom organic tomatoes available for sampling at the Tomato Festival and Purses for Pets fundraiser, a ‘gently used upscale handbag auction’ to benefit the Lassen County Humane Society’s local spay and neuter program.
Festival attendees will be treated to a free heirloom tomato tasting, gourmet cooking classes, wine tasting and live music from Tim Keesey.
Along with the cooking classes you can also learn wine and tomato pairing and how to can your own tomatoes.
Experts from Treats Pet Company will join the Humane Society at the festival to answer your pet related questions.
Bring your biggest tomato between 2:00 and 5:00 and get a chance to win a prize in the Titan Tomato contest!
The event is free and starts at 2:00 Saturday afternoon and runs until 5:00p.m., at Every Bloomin’ Thing nursery, 705-670 Hwy 395 E. For more information call 251-2330.
