The Rails to Trails Festival has grown over the years to become one of Lassen County’s largest community events and this year the festival is scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 10th, from 12:00 noon to 4:00p.m., in concert with the the Bizz Johnson Marathon, attracting thousands of visitors to Susanville.
The action-packed weekend will also bring competitors to town for the Susanville Area Bicycle Association’s sanctioned Double-D mountain bike race at Susanville Ranch Park.
It will be a very busy Columbus Day Weekend in Lassen County!
“The festival has become an institution. It draws people to our community and provides a great flavor of all that Lassen has to offer,” said Patti Hagata, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce. “That is why the Chamber’s Board of Directors has chosen to become a partner with Lassen Land and Trails Trust to host the 2015 Rails to Trails Festival.”
“With over 1,200 people attending last year, handcar races, chili cook-off, community organizations and activities, as well as a great diversity of vendors for food, regional crafts and so much more, the Festival has grown beyond the capacity of just one organization being able to host it,” added Louise Jensen, Executive Director of Lassen Land and Trails Trust. “We’re thrilled to be able to partner with our Chamber of Commerce to make the 2015 festival the best yet.”
Be sure to put the Festival on your calendar and to begin thinking about entering your special chili or salsa in the cook-off or pulling together your handcar team to compete. October really isn’t that far away!
