It is with deep sorrow the family announces the death of Troy J. Keefer. Troy was born on the 22nd of February in Redding, California, 1971 and he passed away in his sleep on the 23rd of September, 2025 in Janesville, California.
He is survived by his parents Lloyd and Carol Keefer, his sisters Amanda Keefer and Kelly Keefer, nephews Keefer Zane Fulton and Brian Newman and Danielle Etzel (wife), and niece Ashlyn Fulton, and grandnieces Madeline Newman and Lydia Carter.
Troy was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, the desert, and hiking. He especially loved bird hunting with a special passion for waterfowl. He was a devoted uncle taking his nephews and niece and their friends camping and sharing his love for the outdoors with them. He was dedicated to his dogs too, Duke, Dakin, and Sadie. Troy also enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the outdoors with family and friends as well as his online Refuge Forum of which he was active since 2003. Troy was also a passionate fan of the Duke Blue Devils Men’s Basketball team and the San Francisco 49ers.
Troy’s spirit lives on with his family, friends, and with the ducks and geese wherever they may fly.
The family will hold a private service for Troy in Montgomery Creek, California
