Two people were arrested last week following an investigation into shoplifting incidents at local retailers, according to a press release from the Susanville Police Department.
The investigation began on June 20th, when Susanville Police officers responded to a report of shoplifting at the Susanville Walmart. Officers were able to identify a female suspect through the store’s surveillance footage, prompting the department to open an official investigation.
Three days later, on June 23rd, officers responded to a separate shoplifting report at Ace Hardware. Surveillance footage from that incident showed both a male and a female suspect. Upon reviewing the tape, officers determined that the female suspect was the same individual allegedly involved in the prior Walmart theft.
Officers subsequently located where the two suspects, who are unhoused, were staying. Their identities were confirmed using the surveillance footage from both businesses.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, both suspects were arrested Wednesday on charges related to grand theft and conspiracy. The individuals have been identified as Kristina Lee, 36, and Tyler Pomelow, 28. Both were booked into the Lassen County Adult Detention Facility.
According to police department, a significant portion of the stolen property was successfully recovered and returned to the merchants.
The Susanville Police Department extended its thanks to Walmart and Ace Hardware for promptly reporting the crimes and providing assistance throughout the investigations. The department also thanked the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in recovering the stolen property today.
