The Susanville Police Department cited two people on April 28th, for furnishing alcoholic beverages to minors as part of an enforcement operation conducted by the Susanville Police Department and the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

According to Police Chief Ryan Cochran, the department conducted a Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation which targets adults who purchase alcohol for people under twenty-one years of age.

“Under the program,” explains Cochran, “a minor under the direct supervision of a peace officer will stand outside a business and ask patrons to buy them alcohol. The minor indicates in some way he or she is underage and cannot purchase the alcohol.”

“We would like to thank the twenty-three other citizens who were contacted during this operation and did not purchase alcohol for the decoys. The Susanville Police Department would like to thank the decoys in this operation who volunteered their time and the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.”

This operation was made possible by a grant from the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
