On November 15th, the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on Ash Street in Westwood. The warrant was issued after detectives with the Butte County Sheriff’s Office arrested Westwood residents Thomas Morris and Cynthia Johnson on November 7th, in Butte County for possession of 84.9 grams of suspected fentanyl and 13.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
As a result, Morris and Johnson were booked into the Butte County Jail. Detectives with Butte County developed additional information that contained evidence of drug sales and firearm possession.
Based on the information, Lassen County Deputies authored a search warrant for their residence located on Ash Street in Westwood.
“On November 15th, personnel with the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office executed the search warrant,” explains LCSO Sergeant Michael Loflin. This included LCSO SWAT, Drone Team, Crisis Negotiation Team and detectives from Butte County.
“While on scene, information was developed that Morris and Johnson were most likely inside the residence. Therefore, CNT continued to make announcements for Morris and Johnson to exit the residence. However, they did not comply. This resulted in SWAT forcefully breaching the front door. After the front door had been breached, SWAT ordered Morris and Johnson to exit the residence, to which they complied. Morris and Johnson were taken into custody without incident.”
During the search of the Westwood residence, authorities discovered additional drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. A flare gun was also found on the property.
Morris and Johnson were arrested and booked into the Lassen County Jail on multiple charges that include being a Felon in possession of a flare gun, Possession of fentanyl, Possession of methamphetamine, Possession of drug paraphernalia and Resisting arrest.
Sergeant Loflin and the LCSO expressed their gratitude to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, Lassen County District Attorney’s Office and SEMSA for their assistance in the investigation.
