Upcoming Event is for Parents of Children with Behavioral or Mental Health Needs

Parents and caregivers in Lassen County who are supporting children with behavioral or mental health needs are invited to a special event focused on empowerment and practical support. The “Supporting and Empowering Parents and Caregivers in Lassen County” program is scheduled for Saturday, August 16th, from 9:00a.m. to 3:00p.m., at the Community Church, located at 65 South Lassen Street in Susanville.

This vital event aims to equip caregivers with essential tools and knowledge. Training topics will include “Educational Advocacy,” “IEP/504 Basics” to navigate special education services, and a critical discussion on “Compassion Fatigue,” among others.

Attendees can expect a comprehensive and supportive experience, including a complimentary light breakfast and catered lunch. The day will also feature gift giveaways and, importantly, free childcare services to ensure that all interested parents and caregivers can attend without impediment.

The program is presented in collaboration with United Parents and Plumas Rural Services, underscoring a community-wide effort to support families. Funding for this initiative is generously provided by the Commission for Behavioral Health.

Parents and caregivers are strongly encouraged to register in advance. Registration can be completed online by following this link or by calling 1.530.283.2735, Ext. 812.
