UPDATE: Abducted Janesville Boy Returned Safely to Authorities

sheriffupdate4Captain Matt McFarland from the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday morning that George Lapan, the missing twelve-year old who the LCSO determined was abducted by his biological mother Sunday evening and taken to Barstow, California, has been safely returned to authorities by an older sibling.

According to Captain McFarland the Sheriff’s Office investigators, who were in Barstow investigating the abduction, were contacted by the Barstow Police Department early Saturday and were told that the juvenile had been brought to Barstow Police Department, shortly before 8:00a.m. and had been safely returned by an older sibling.

The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation this morning and has confirmed that the child has been turned over to San Bernardino County Social Services.

Captain McFarland and the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigations for their continued support; as well as the Barstow Police Department, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office and the Lassen County Search and Rescue Team.
