Upgrade Your Stove or Fireplace with Help from Air Pollution Control District

wood-stove-flyer
Did you know that swapping out one old, inefficient wood stove is similar to taking 5 dirty old diesel trucks off the road? The tiny particles in wood smoke can affect your health, but with a few simple steps you can help reduce wood smoke to protect your health and the air we breath.

The Lassen County Air Pollution District can help you burn cleaner with a few easy steps: Upgrade to a cleaner EPA certified gas or wood stove; burn dry, seasoned wood; burn wood with low moisture content and provide sufficient air to the fire; never let it smolder.

The Lassen County Air Pollution Control District’s Wood Stove Replacement Program assists in replacing operable and older non-certified wood stoves with cleaner, more fuel efficient wood heating devices or other less polluting heating appliances.

Replacements that may qualify for the rebate include: (1) Replacement of non-EPA certified and pre-1990 wood heating appliances or open hearth fireplaces with EPA certified appliances, and (2) Replacement of non-EPA certified and pre-1990 wood heating appliances with propane or natural gas appliance.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must be a full-time resident of Lassen County
  • Applicant must own and reside at the residence
  • New equipment cannot be purchased prior to receiving application approval
  • Proof of passing City or County building inspection for installation of the stove is required
  • Can not have received a wood stove rebate from LCAPCD within the last 5 years

Applications are accepted on a first come first serve basis and submission of an application does not guarantee funding.

For more information, please contact the Lassen County Air Pollution Control District at (530) 257-1041 or stop by their offices at 720 South Street. You can also follow this link over to the Air Pollution Control District’s website lassenair.org.
