A single-family residence on Upland Street in the southern part of Susanville was completely destroyed Thursday evening in a fire that is still under investigation according to Lassen Office of Emergency Services Chief Eric Ewing.
Multiple agencies including Susanville City Fire, Cal-Fire, Susan River, Susanville Police Department, LMUD, the Red Cross and Lassen OESĀ responded to the residence at the corner of Upland and Covina streets shortly after 5:30p.m. to find the house fully engulfed.
Equipment on-scene to fight the fire included 5 engines and the city’s ladder truck.
According to American Red Cross Disaster Program Manager Eric Kiltz,Ā the houseĀ fireĀ displaced a family and atĀ the request of local fire officials, theĀ Red Cross has deployed aĀ Disaster Action Team to provide assistance.
“Red Cross caseworkers will interviewĀ the displaced persons,” said Kiltz,Ā “and are prepared to helpĀ with emergency needs such asĀ temporary lodging and assistance for food and clothing.”
