Construction of the new Lake Almanor Community Hospital is moving forward, and representatives from the United States Department of Agriculture recently visited the jobsite to see the progress. The visit was part of the monthly coordination meetings between the construction team and the USDA, which has provided crucial financial support through its Rural Development Community Facilities Program.
During the visit, USDA representatives Anita Lopez, Chantal Haun, and Kaitlin Kirkland took part in a special signing ceremony, putting their names on a structural column of the new building. According to a press release from Seneca Healthcare District, the signing was a “symbolic gesture of unity, partnership and shared purpose.”

Seneca Healthcare District CEO Shawn McKenzie said the USDA has been “more than a funding sourceātheyāve been partners in helping us bring this hospital to life.”
“This new facility will expand access to quality care, improve patient experiences, and support the health and well-being of our entire community,” McKenzie added.
Jerri Neilsen, President of the Seneca Healthcare District Board, echoed the sentiment. “This hospital and skilled nursing facility will be a cornerstone of care for families, seniors, and future generations in the Lake Almanor Basin.”
The new hospital, which is expected to be completed in early 2027, will bring expanded services and modern facilities to the Lake Almanor Basin and surrounding rural areas. The Seneca Healthcare Foundation is currently raising funds to support the project.
