The Susanville Fire Department was dispatched to an address on Harrison Street shortly after 2:00p.m., Friday afternoon for a reported of a vegetation fire, arriving to find a wind-driven fire in 3-foot tall grass with a moderate rate of spread and structures threatened.
The Susanville Fire Department Volunteers were also dispatched along with automatic aid from Cal-Fire, Susan River Fire Protection District and Cal-Fire/OES Engine 6601.
Firefighters made an aggressive attack and the fire was quickly contained at .25 acres.
According to details released today by Captain Hernandez of the Susanville Fire Department, no structures or surrounding properties sustained damage. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Other units on scene to aid in the incident were CCC Fire Department, Janesville Fire Protection District, Cal-Fire B-2217, BLM, Forest Service and the Susanville Police Department.
The Susanville Fire Department is reminding all residents to make your property fire safe by cutting weeds and removing combustible material to limit the spread of fire.
