Veterans Groups Honor Local Law Enforcement Officers at Annual Ceremony

Lassen County Veteran’s organizations paid tribute to local law enforcement Wednesday evening at their annual awards night ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Hall.

The Marine Corp League, the American Legion Post and the Veterans of Foreign Wars each honored officers with special tributes.

The Thomas Tucker Post awards went to Susanville Police Detective Nate Horton; California Highway Patrol Officer Kenny Clem; California Correctional Center Officer James Foutenot and Susanville Volunteer Fire Department Volunteer Cindy Elliot.

The Marine Corps League honored Cal-Fire Heavy Machine Mechanic Steve Smith; BLM Officer Darrin VonHelf; HDSP Officer Casey Templeton and Forest Service Firefighter John Nickey.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars named Herlong Volunteer Fire Dept Chief Cassandra Hankins, the Lassen County Probation Department’s Melissa Brown and Lassen County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Vinson to it’s list of honorees.
