This grant sponsored event, which is free to the public, helps create widespread public knowledge of victims rights and needs along with providing individuals with the empowerment of community involvement.
Along with presentations and the walk around the block the park will be full of informational booths and contestants participating in the chili cook off contest.
Many participants will be surprised to learn about all of the support and assistance available in their community. All around the park attendees gather information and visit the many booths that help bring awareness to the programs and organizations available right here in Lassen County.
Walk-A-Mile 2015 was a huge success, which organizers attribute to the efforts of the community agencies, individuals and volunteers that joined in the event to make a difference to crime victims.
The first 500 people to register for the walk, either online or in person at Lassen Family Services, will receive a free Walk-A-Mile t-shirt. Registration will open through the day of the event.
To pre-register visit Lassen Family Services’ website at www.lassenfamilyservices.org.
