A 76-year-old man from Brier, Washington, has died following a single-vehicle collision Tuesday morning just outside the city limits on the west end of Susanville. The California Highway Patrol is currently withholding the driver’s identity pending the notification of next of kin.
According to a report from the Susanville CHP office, dispatchers received a call at approximately 9:18a.m. on April 14th, regarding a crash on State Route 36 near Hillcrest Road.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 2022 Acura that had been involved in a major collision. The preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was traveling eastbound on SR-36 at an unknown speed when, for reasons still under investigation, he allowed the vehicle to exit the south edge of the roadway.

Emergency personnel provided immediate medical care at the scene. The driver was first transported to Banner Lassen Medical Center before being airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
Tragically, the CHP reports that the driver succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
The collision remains under investigation. The CHP asks anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Susanville office at 1.530.252.1800.
