Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Winter Weather Advisory as upper elevations look to get up to six inches of snow throughout the day Sunday.
The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect between 5:00a.m. and 9:00p.m. Sunday.
Above 6,000 feet snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches are expected with locally higher amounts – up to 10 inches – on higher mountain peaks.
Winds up to 55mph are possible, including areas below 6,000 feet in Lassen, eastern Plumas and eastern Sierra counties.
Gusty winds could bring down tree branches and will bring strong cross winds along Highway 70 and Highway 395. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
