Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect from this afternoon through this evening.
The weather watch is in effect for eastern Lassen County,
the northern Sierra Front and northern Washoe County.
Winds will be southwest to west at 20 to 25mph with gusts up to 35mph and humidity will be as low as 9 percent for 3 to 6 hours.
The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them.
Avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires.
