Forecasters at the National Weather Service office in Reno have issued a Heat Advisory for Susanville and the surrounding areas.
High temperatures up to 104 degrees are expected here in the valley this afternoon with overnight low temperatures only dropping to the 60’s, resulting in widespread Moderate HeatRisk with isolated areas of Major HeatRisk.
The Heat Advisory is in effect until Wednesday morning, but temperatures are supposed to cool a bit on Tuesday. Although tomorrow won`t be quite as hot, some valley sites could still see highs near 100 degrees.
Heat related illnesses increase significantly during heat events, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
