The National Weather Service office in Reno has issued a Heat Advisory, in effect from 11:00 Tuesday morning until late Thursday evening, warning northeastern California and western Nevada residents to prepare for temperatures between 100 and 110 degrees in valley locations.
Overnight lows here in the Honey Lake Valley will only drop into the upper 60s.
High temperatures this week will cause a high risk of heat related illnesses for much of the population, especially those who are heat sensitive and those without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency… call 9 1 1.
